Ayurvedic books every beginner should start with

Ayurveda is an ancient science of healing that originated in India around 5000 years ago (Vedic Era). Like all the ancient Indian knowledge It was orally transmitted from a guru to their disciples before finally being written down in Sanskrit. The word “Ayurveda” is derived from the Sanskrit word “Ayu” meaning life and “Veda” meaning knowledge. It establishes the connection between the body (microcosm) and the universe (macrocosm). According to it, all matter is composed of five elements (Panchmahabhutas) viz: Earth (Prithvi), water (Jal), Fire (Agni), Air (Vayu), Ether (Akash). These elements are also responsible for the function of senses viz: Smell, Taste, Vision, Touch, and Hearing respectively. The varying composition of these five elements results in an individual body which can be classified into three Dhosas that are Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These govern all the biological, psychological, and physiopathological functions of body, mind, and consciousness.
